The Goal Of The H.I.P. H.O.P. Movement After School Program Literacy Program is to help children in four important areas: socialization, education, athletics and morality.
The H.I.P. H.O.P. Movement After School and Literacy Program will not only become a positive influence in children lives but is also committed to fostering a strong relationship with parents by assisting in the development of their child.
Our After School Program's curriculum is divided into four areas of focus: Advocacy Division; Education Division; Character Development Division; and Sociological Enhancement Division
The purpose of our Advocacy Division is to support the parents of children involved in The H.I.P. H.O.P. Movement After School and Literacy Program. Parenthood is an overwhelming responsibility and we want parents to know that we are here to back and assist them when they have nowhere else to turn and have exhausted all methods available to them. Currently, The H.I.P. H.O.P. Movement After School and Literacy Program communicates with parents on an as needed basis to discuss child raising issues. The H.I.P. H.O.P. Movement After School Program and Literacy Program will implement a monthly rap session open to all parents to discuss child raising issues.
a. Pre-Season Warm Up: Several weeks prior to the start of the school year, the student will attend courses in mathematics and reading to re-enforce the skills previously taught in those areas and to introduce some of the skills sets that will be taught in the upcoming school year.
b. Tutoring: Individual tutoring will be available in areas where skill sets are lacking. Coordination with the child’s parents will identify necessary areas of improvement on an individual basis.
c. Spelling Bee Program: Throughout the length of the program, the children will be taught new vocabulary words appropriate for their learning level. At the end of this program the children will participate in a spelling bee where prizes will be awarded.
III. Character Development
The H.I.P. H.O.P. Movement After School and Literacy Program. will strive to develop positive characteristics in children through writing, arts and crafts, singing, song writing, poetry, dance, stage presentations, family support and similar activities. In promoting the children’s talents through these activities, the Character Development Division will build upon and strengthen their inner awareness leading to advances morally, academically and socially.
IV. Sociological Enhancement
The H.I.P. H.O.P. Movement After School and Literacy Program. will emphasize the sociological development of each child. This division accomplishes it’s objectives through mentoring programs, neighborhood clean-ups, feeding the homeless, organizing toy drives and other community based projects.
